Um… You can sort’a tell, this isn’t likely to end well for our intrepid duo…
But um, hey, the strip is only a day late – er… that is, if you don’t count the week before that it was also late… or was it two? I forget… (One of the advantages of getting older, you can screw up and not remember)…
But, other than the New Comix, today is also Armistice Day, when on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 World War One came to an end… At the time, people optimistically and ill advisedly assumed it would be the “War to End All Wars”… a goal that we’ve fallen somewhat short of… Well um… Can’t win ’em all…
Well sure pardner, Hopalong has proudly appeared on the 15 dollar bill since 1939. What, you never seen one? Well they are kinda rare. Collectors usually scoop ’em up as fast as the Treasury can print ’em. Mrs. Hellen Hunt has the largest extant collection of “Hopalongs” in the US. So if you want one you can to to Hellen Hunt for it…
Katz, the brighter of the two, must have known that printing fake money isn’t the answer. But then again the non-federal Federal Reserve prints money no matter what anyone thinks.
Hey, Katz may be the brighter of the two, but the sheer mass of knowledge he gains from the Internet might be enough to confuse even a genius… When he researched “money,” he’s just lucky he didn’t also try to reproduce pre-war Romanian lire, ancient Japanese ryo or rusty Visigothic rhatzases…
Let’s examine this scene for a minute. Think about what that desk sgt. is dealing with. Here’s this kid in a uni-tard and sailor blouse, wearing bunny ears, carrying a load of play money, talking about the “enemy alliance”, and accompanied by some kind of RC toy robot – and who says she wants to ransom her scout craft.
The possibilities for law enforcement humor and hilarity beggar the imagination. Particularly since he appears to be such a patient and understanding man.
Yes, he does seem an’ experienced and wise ossifer, with many years on the force and well versed with the foibles of dealing with the deluded, the deranged, the occasional raving loonie… However, it seems SOP for the LAPD to deal with such types by beating the snot out of them…
Who can count THAT high? I sure can’t, and I majored in math in high school & college. I’m no “Professor Charlie Epps” (Numbers TV show), but at least I can keep my checkbook balanced (unlike the government)
I barely remember Car 54. I was 4 or 5 in 61-62. I had no idea until I Googled it today that Al Lewis and Fred Gwynne were in a TV show together before the Munsters. Bunz & Katz is edumacational! Go figure.

“Have you got change for an eighteen dollar bill?”
“Sure. You want two nines or three sixes?”

Bringing counterfit money to the Poice – what could possibly go wrong?

My favorite desk sergeant was George Guhl, from the old Torchy Blane films. Although this one looks more like Schnauser (Al Lewis).
“Granpa Munster” Al Lewis?
Yes, Grandpa Munster. He played Officer Schnauser on ‘Car 54 Where Are You’, (I guess I was wrong, I thought Schnauser was a sergeant).
