   By request, (from last year – or the year before) we finally got around to presenting, “A Night at Dirty Zelda’s”… Note* This page may be a bit bemusing If you haven’t read the “Space Gophers Inc.” strips from Army Surplus Komix, or maybe even if you have… “Sorry ’bout that Chief”…

   For anyone who doesn’t recall the folk scene of the 60s, continuing with our Zelda theme, that’s Alan Sherman singing “My Zelda” in the Cantina… Click here for the song: “Oy, my Zelda – My Zelda, My Zelda, she took the money and ran with the tailor…” Though his biggest hit was “Camp Granada,” which is likely also available on youtube…

   Additional Note* No Terrapins were injured in the making of this comix…

   Ah yes, at long last, we meet again the rugged, rambunctious rodents of Space Gophers, Inc. – those intrepid, insouciant, interstellar, incompetent, long-haul hucksters of the spaceways… Every one of whom is named “Al”…
   So next time you want to get to some far-off planet, remember the proud slogan of Space Gophers, Inc… “When You Want to Get There in the Worst Way…”

   There was a TON of TMNT clones – the two I remember were Adolescent Radioactive Blackbelt Hamsters and Dirty Gene, Preteen Kung Fu Koalas….

     There were a lot of knock-offs… I recall years ago in the old San Diego convention center, talkin’ to the guy who drew the “Chameleon Commandos”… He seemed a nice guy, though I didn’t think that much of his comic… Then I learned that he’d sold more in a single issue than I had with all the Army Surplus Comix lumped together… That kind’a puts one in their place!

     Ahh… You may wish to rethink that… Dirty Zelda’s has not only been posted as a toxic waste repository but also as a radiation hazard… and that’s just for the drinks they serve!
