As we’re in the midst of our BaseBall interlude, for our pin-up this week, I thought we might as well show Bunz & Katz in their BlackSox Uniforms… (Note* that Bunz actually is wearing black Socks – whether Katz is wearing any socks at all, is debatable)… And though I’ve lived out here in LA for some time, with both LA teams in last place (or nearly so) this year, It kind’a makes me nostalgic for Chicago and their lovable losers…
Not that this has anything to do with anything, but around Chicago, there’s speculation about a curse as the reason for the Cubs’ perennial bad luck (No such speculation for the SouthSide Sox, I guess folks feel that they earned theirs)… But for those who wish to look for the root of a curse on the Cubs, one factor never seems to be considered: That’s Wrigley Field itself – the only Federal League Ball Park still in existence…The Federal League was possibly unfairly done out of existence by Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, who then went on to become the first Commissioner of Baseball (possibly as payback for his favorable decision against the Federal League)… So what does this all have to do with the Cubs? you might ask… Well… Since moving into Wrigley Field in 1916, the Cubs have not won another World Series! In the great days of the Cubs, they played over in Westside Park! So forget the Goat and other theories – I bet’cha it’s the ball field itself – it’s the Curse of the old Federal League still stewing over it’s unfair demise!! And what does all that have to do with Bunz & Katz? …Um… Absolutely nothing! I jus’ thought it was an interesting idea…
