Unlike many comic books and strips, who seemingly manage their scene changes seamlessly – here at the Quagmire Komix Werkz we just don’t have the budget for a large crew… As such, from time to time the cast needs to lend a hand… Or um… at least that’s the rationale for this page – You get to see a not so behind the scenes look at how comix are made…

Miz LeChat does seem like a take-charge type… (also vaguely familiar – almost as if we’ve met her somewhere before)… Perhaps Bunz, er… Bat Temp should beware of black cats and um… bitchy babes…

Who is going to do the prosecution? And, more importantly perhaps, who is going to defend Bat Temp?

Hey, no more of a front than a lot of our public institutions… like political conventions, fer instance…

Well they say that justice delayed is justice denied. Miss LeChat seems to have justice on speed dial! Judge, jury and trial in 30 minutes or it’s FREE!

And there’s nothing like a brisk round of breaking the fourth wall… kicking it about a bit… and burning the rubble.
    Scattering the ashes…

I wonder if the Democrats are following the Bunz & Katz situation of throwing together an instant trial, fair or otherwise. Trump said to Russia, Hey, if you happen to have a copy of Hillary’s lost files, it would put you in a good light with the press here if you’d send a batch of them over to us. The Democrats responded that any such suggestion was an act of “treason”. So Trump could go to prison over what Hillary did. And jail time or not, it might finish Hillary if it could be shown that she was after stealing the natural gas market of Russia.

    • DoubleW
      July 29, 2016, 9:42 pm | #

Hey, we don’t need no Russian natural gas… our candidates are producing plenty of good ol’ Amurrican natural gas on their own!

Billthesurly, even this comic story is supposedly building to a mega-battle. The new Star Trek movie is out, which I haven’t see yet — but intend to.. There is a massive battle game that the governator is very successfully huckstering. We add numbers to the end of our World Wars, anticipating more to follow. What you remark about is evidently a part of our DNA, if we are inclined to like it or not.

And for the next few months, unless you hide from looking out the window there will be a battle in the streets of Mothra vs Godzilla. The two monsters argue the point of is Global Warming Theory or Grand Economic Collapse the greatest threat to the universe. Good luck in ignoring these giant monsters when they tear up the streets and square off.

    • Billthesurly
      July 30, 2016, 3:43 pm | #

Mothra vs Godzilla! Ha! But wait a minute – Godzilla winds up being a GOOD GUY! Gotta come up with something other than Godzilla. Hmmmm…
Mothra works… Hedorah! – from the Japanese word for sludge, slime, vomit or chemical ooze. (Bout perfect.)

Now we get to decide who’s which.

Terms matter Billthesurly, terms matter. My two monsters could have followers that believe them to be virtuous and heroic. Aside from power and size — both would have causes. Your slime monster approach is like “The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants” fielded by Magneto. The thumb is on rooting for the other guy, no matter their powers or intentions. A PC world is in some ways owned. Owned maybe without a good reason — “rigged”.

B ‘o K – Yes, I know that some see The Hildebeest as the second coming and some see Trump as a COMPLETE JERKASS – but the jerkass we need right now. I am attempting to have some fun with the political silliness we just observed over the last couple of weeks and you’re just harshing my buzz!

So if I must be dragged screaming and kicking into the realm of political reality and forced to be serious for a very brief moment – I have never seen a political party attempt to rig it’s own election before. That revelation was “amazing”. And now back to my previously scheduled silliness.

Cthulhu for President – why settle for the lesser evil?

Billthesurly, I don’t know if you read comic books, but like me you are also enjoying the art and story of Josh. Marvel Comics has put out a new mini series: “Loki for President”. All politicians tend to tell whoopers, from time to time. But Loki has went the distance of openly saying that he is running on a pack of lies — and the public seems to have enjoyed his candor in promoting this point.

Ah, the lawyer lady seems to also be a super-person of some sort. The bell like thing, might be something to activate her special powers. Then again she just might simply like golden bling.

Y’know, as a kid, the finale of that cartoon was totally lost on me… Stalin had died in 53 and was only a name to me, the Rooskie bogieman was in the later 50s, Nikita Khrushchev… nor was I old enough to recall that particular 40’s era tobacco ad catch-phrase… I had no idea why Adolph and Goring should be frightened by Bugs wearing a mustache and smoking a pipe… I wonder what kids today might make of “Herr Meets Hare” or like myself will they just shrug and wait for the next cartoon?

Back in the 50s, in the early early morning, would get up an’ turn on the TV to see the Test Pattern… My Grandmother, who’d been a farmer’s wife was always up at 5 in the AM, so my sisters an I would keep one eye on the TV while she’d fix us some cereal or something… presently the test pattern would be replaced and the first show of the morning would come on – about an hour of random cartoons – a lot of old Terrytoons (watched far too many of Farmer Alfalfa chasing mice), mixed in with various Fleischer and Lantz flicks… and then every now and again there’d be a Warners cartoon in the mix… When we heard that twang of an Electric Guitar, like a turbine winding up into the music, we knew we were in for a real treat!

A lot of those old cartoons were filled with topical references, especially to 40s radio shows, most of which a kid didn’t really need to understand for them to be funny… Like we also wouldn’t have known who Hermann Goring was, but in the cartoon it didn’t matter, he was a fat German, full of bluster and frustration, just another of the random bullies that Bugs was pitted against, He was funny just of himself… But then occasionally in a cartoon, there’d be a show-stopper, something that was just totally inexplicable (like that ending)… Eventually some adult (probably the Old Man) told us kids, “That’s Stalin”… Which didn’t help…

“Stalin? So who’s Stalin, an’ why’s Hitler afraid of him?? An’ what about the Tobacco?” (At least we did know who Hitler was)… It wasn’t until much later, as I learned the history of WWII that it all began to become clear…

Uncle Joe shows up in a couple other of my favorite cartoons, (These by Bob Clampett) “Russian Rhapsody” aka “Gremlins from the Kremlin” and one of the infamous “Censored Eleven” cartoons, “Tin Pan Alley Cats” Where we get to see Stalin booting Adolf in the rump during the Wacky-Land sequence… But with those, he’s come and gone with a blink of the eye… If you don’t understand the joke, there’s plenty more gags to come… No time to wonder what that was all about?

I had a moment of great delight when, in one of the WB cartoon reference books, the writer had no explanation for why Sylvester and four of his cat buddies turned into Teddy Roosevelt and yelled “Charge!”

He didn’t know—but I did—it’s a reference to “Arsenic and Old Lace.” It was the first time I realized I knew more than some of the guys writing these things…and it wasn’t the last, either.

When I was active duty in the Navy (’76-’80) anytime something, usually a balky piece of equipment, gave us trouble or didn’t work properly, it was instantly branded a “communist”. The Cold War. Want to see a puzzled look on a teenagers face? Ask him about the Cold War.

I will still mutter it under my breath when something at the hospital doesn’t go right and people give me the funniest looks…

When I was stationed in Japan, it was a gag insult within the Squadron to call someone who was being a jerk a “Communist”… It was a habit that I had to lose later on…

Some units had their own lingo or running gags, like in another, someone would walk into the squad bay where a few guys were sitting around on the bunks, chatting or whatever, and casually mention, “Hey, I heard that gays can’t dance…” Without saying a word, everyone who was in on the gag, would immediately jump to their feet, do a little dance step and sit back down, resuming their conversations – while any new guy would be still sitting there, thinking, “What? What??”

The calender with the three lovely ladies was nice. But I couldn’t help notice the concern in the eyes of Bunz. The lawyer lady might be a super-person, but Bunz isn’t worried about her. But while Moxie might not have super powers, either the Dragon Ball Z like scanner in her eyeglasses or her own senses are telling her something like this person is easily a match for or greater than anyone in her entire fleet. She was to scout, and that was the result. Perhaps she is even concerned that if she found and deployed her super ray gun, that Moxie would merely step aside of the beam with grace, and without so much as a drop of sweat. A sweet, gracious and possibly unbeatable foe. One off the chart of her scanner device. Kind of like Goku might appear.

Think about it. Same profile [rack], virtually same hair style, and a fondness for weird looking glasses. Plus, the only person who saw Bat Temp [Bunz] hauling the clown to the police station [even gave good directions] was 3DD Kitty. And lo, this lawyer type shows up before the cops can even start the suspect’s in-processing. My parinoid meter just pegged out!
