He did a pretty good job, seeing as he had only dirt tech to work with…

My man! I knew he could do it. Now for the hard part. Can she fly it? Can she actually keep the UFO thingy in the air long enough for El Segundo to get a bead on ’em? How will they know it’s a UFO? Well it says so right there on the package. (Is that convenient or what?)

Ahh, do you know something that we don’t? It was my impression that the Los Angeles Air Force Base El Segundo was all office space with nothing flyable… Though there is the Hyperion sewage treatment plant in El Segundo as well – which may be more dangerous…

I don’t know where any interceptors might come from to protect the skies over Hollywood, maybe Point Mugu or Edwards? Perhaps B&K needn’t worry about anything more dangerous than a Cop Copter…

Well sure, it’s the HQ of Air Force Space Command’s Space and Missiles Systems Center. No planes? Who needs ’em? They can whistle up some missiles from over the horizon or out to sea or Kansas or the moon or somewhere right? Maybe the building’s roof folds back and the planitary laser defense system pops up. That would explain that “sewage treatment plant” (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) – cooling.

Well, of course Katz could do it with spare parts, miscellaneous junk and duct tape… sort of… in a haffassed kinda way. But at least they’re airborne… for the moment… Although a 50’s movie-type UFO is hardly an aerodynamic design, and remains to be seen if Bunz can keep the thing from digging another crater….

The mini-picture of the moon suggested two or maybe three things at once. The smiling man on the moon. And the moon itself being oddly warped. (And something that looked very much like a bat (um) signal.) I thought of the (um) kid’s cartoon “Soul Eater” (super complex) and of course good old Kid Death (or Death the Kid) — son of (yes) the grim reaper himself. Not all kid’s stories are meant for kids.

Actually it’s a traditional Wood-Cut style Moon image… This borrowed from the great, Dan O’Neill, who drew this woodcut style moon in his comic, “Odd Bodkins”…
